CEE SME Banking Conference 2015: how it was last week

Last Monday and Thursday, 12-13 October, SME Banking Club organized CEE SME Banking Conference in Warsaw. During these two days, all participants shared their best practices and experience in SME Banking and specifically in Non-financial services and digital solutions for SMEs.

CEE Market Overview

Vladimir Vano, Head of CEE Research Sberbank Europe AG (Slovakia), gave the outlook of economic and business environment in CEE region from the very beginning of the Conference.

Digital banking and innovations

Lukas Dzuroska, CEE Regional Manager of Efma (France), told about new set of standards for digital banking and bank of future for SME customers, which should include gamification, personalization, simplification and optimized branch network. Omni-channel approach with the opti-channel strategy – this was the main message – so that every customer could choose optimal channel for himself.

The role of branches in a future

The next two speakers presented their view of role of branches in SME Banking in the future and shared their magnificent experience in branch design and creating new branches formats for SMEs: Mykola Chumak, CEO & Founder of idnt (Ukraine-Poland) and Michael Allen, CEO & Founder of allen international (UK).

Fintech and non-financial services

During the following panel – “FinTech and SME Banking” – Boris Diakonov and Eduard Panteleev (co-founders of Tochka Bank, the member of Bank Otkritie Financial Corporation), revealed a secret of radical SME banking by sharing their experience in creating totally online SME Bank – Tochka.com. In addition, Eduard Panteleev presented Knopka.com – accounting outsourcing service for entrepreneurs integrated with online banking of Tochka Bank and the ones of the main commercial banks in Russia.

Then Gaspard Delassus and Nina Nourian from Export Enterprises сompany (France) opened Non-financial services Workshop and shared their experience in building SME business communities and gave answers to the most essential issues, which should be defined before launching Non-financial services in the bank: How to define the right NFS for your bank? What are the objectives? How to measure KPI after launching?

Pawel Dziekonski, Head of Credit Products, Deutsche Bank Polska, continued the topic of non-financial services for SME customers and shared Bank’s experience in building digital solutions for SMEs and using big data.

SME Risk Management

Samira Khalil, Managing Director of GTIS (USA-France) presented diverse SME Banking growth models and shared with successful experience of building SME Banking in Bank BRI (Indonesia) and ICICI (India).

Innovations in SME banking

Then Andrey Gidulyan, CEO of SME Banking Club, presented Digital Business Banking Study 2015: a research, conducted by SME Banking Club with SME bankers across 14 markets to discover their expectations of SME Banking in the digital age. Monika Chwiedziewicz, Head of Transactional Banking Development Department of Idea Bank, presented Idea Bank’s most innovative solutions for SMEs: Idea Hub (branch with co-working places for SMEs and coffee), Car ATM and Idea Cloud (online platform for managing business, which connects e-banking, e-invoicing and cash flow model). This very topic raised a lot of interest and questions within attendees.

Relationship management and X-sell

Karol Stiępień, Head of Mid Corporate Banking of Raiffeisen Polbank, shared his experience in building focus on cross-sell to customers within the Bank. The main components of such model are: Net Promoter Score (NPS) measuring, income based bonus scheme and three steps model of identifying customer needs and building Bank’s offer based on them.

International experience and best practice

Mohamed Antably, Head of Corporate Commercial & Marketing Division of QNB Bank (Egypt) shared his experience in building SME Banking in turbulent economic times in the country and during processes of merging and acquisitions of the bank (the bank was owned by Société Générale banking group previously).

The event also offered many networking opportunities in-between presentations to interact in non-formal atmosphere during coffee breaks and lunch.
